Reading 2014

In Reading I am learning to: 
Use different reading strategies to work out tricky words.

Success criteria:
Use the pictures to think about what the word could be;
Look at the beginning and end letters and think about what word would fit and make sense;
Look for chunks or words I know within a word and think about what work would make sense;
Read on to the end of the sentence, then re-read and think about what word would make sense.




My next step:

To retell the story in detail.

Persuasive Arguments


W.A.L.T write a persuasive argument

We will know we can do this when we...
* say what the issue is.
*  give an opinion about the problem.
*  give reasons for our opinion.
*  use conjunctions to show cause and effect.
*  use adjectives to make the argument more powerful.

Kade says...
I liked that I told Mrs Trotter it is important to have fresh air.

My next learning step is to check my writing makes sense.  

Music

WALT: play the recorder.

We will know we can do this when:
* hold the recorder correctly.
*  use the correct breathing techniques.
*  use the correct fingering to play different notes.
*  can read and perform music with 3-5 notes on the recorder.

Kade says..

In recorder I like playing the hot cross bun song.

 

My next learning step is, I would like to learn how to play really fast notes.




Art Workshop

LEARNING INTENTION
Today with Mr Shaskey we learned about sketching and drawing. We learned to set the limits, draw the outline and then add the shapes.

SUCCESS CRITERIA
We can follow instructions and sketch some fruit and vegetables





WHAT DID I THINK?
I liked the apple I drew because I did a great circle, as I am normally bad at circles.

NEXT STEP:
To practice the skills I have learnt.

I worked as a team to create the puzzle.  My next step is to listen to others ideas. 

Adventure Writing

WALT write an adventure narrative

We will know we can do this when we can:
* 
Include a beginning, middle and end.

Describe the characters and settings.

*  Use past tense.
Use nouns, adjectives, and action verbs.

* Use capital letters, full stops and speech marks correctly.
